Imagemakers needed a suite of software for their digital exhibits at Royal Chelsea Hospital (RHC) that would entertain and engage visitors, and patients with dementia. A series of minigames were designed to keep users coming back, ranging from simple jigsaws through to Only Connect-style memory games. The games were designed to be played by two people at opposite ends of a table to encourage socialising between visitors. To round out the software I designed a timeline with the ability to display full screen content and easily move betwen events.
Providing accessible software was absolutely critical for this project, as a large portion of the user base could have varying dementia symptoms and reduced fine motor control. To allow for this, clear, large touch targets were used, and every game or interaction featured a simple onboarding animation. Clear interaction cues (in the form of arrows, blocks and animations) walk the user through every feature, without getting in the way.

Prototypes
These animations were used as the ground truth for interactions across the project. Modular tiles slide, scale and signpost the next steps.
